DC traffic - enough said.

in the event of thanksgiving break, i'd like to take this time to address dc/va traffic. mainly because it drives me nuts. if i was anywhere else in the world, getting out of class early on a thursday night (5pm?) would mean, i could go home, eat and LEAVE. wrong. not down here. if you leave at 5pm and try and get on the beltway - you might as well pull over now cause you ain't go anywhere - mark my words, forty five minutes later you'll still be on the 'on ramp' waiting to merge. .
lets also talk about the rush hour - i try and beat the system, go grocery shopping at odd hours or try going to panera earlier than the lunch "rush". i'd just like to say, it doesnt work. because, there is the normal rush hour of lunch, and the rush of those going to and leaving work. and THEN there are those, like me, who try to "BEAT the rush" and that creates.. a whole new "rush" of people trying to beat the rush! ! its a terrible, viscious cycle. and it drives me nuts. therefore the rush hour down here literally becomes from about 6am-11am and about 1pm-8pm. this thanksgiving, i am thankful to get out of here, and drive somewhere, anywhere when i can drive whenever i want and not fear death from people crossing 5 lanes of traffic to exit on the ramp they just barely passed..
and on a side note: i got stuck in a parking lot the other day for about 10 min. (at least) and i was driving around; i couldnt find the exit. i started following cars around thinking they knew, but every one that i followed, ended up parking - so i was on my own. it was hysterical. it always feels good to laugh at yourself & ..finally find the exit of a va parking lot;)
enjoy your day.

which explains the title of my blog - i'm down here studying the heart and hopefully (fingers crossed) will become a registered cardiovascular invasive specialist in august 2009. but its also about my journey down here - on my own & where this journey may take me :)
enjoy :)
